About this module

Qualis ERP's Package Types module lets small and mid-sized manufacturers keep one catalog of the containers they pack goods into, such as cardboard boxes, wooden crates, plastic bins and pallets, with their size, weight limits and shipping details. You describe each container once, and packing never again depends on someone remembering the measurements. Each package type gets an automatic code and a name, with an optional description. Dimensions are length, width and height in millimetres, shown as a 3D preview you can rotate to check the shape. The weight tab records the empty weight and the maximum load in kilograms. Shipping details hold a barcode, the carrier, the carrier code for this container and a sequence prefix used for package references. An Active switch retires a container without deleting it. A package type already used by a package cannot be deleted, and deleted types go to a trash where they can be restored. Every change is kept in the version history, with the old and new values side by side and a restore button for users allowed to edit. Logistics and warehouse leads set up the catalog when the system goes live, usually by importing a CSV file. The import previews every row, flags missing or duplicate names before anything is saved, and runs in the background for large files. Later they adjust a maximum weight after a container is re-rated, or export the list to CSV or Excel to share with a carrier. Package types are the foundation of the Packages module: every package must name its container type, and its 3D preview and dimensions come from here.
