Compensation

Compensation keeps each employee's pay as dated rows: the amount, its currency, whether it is per hour, day, month or year, and the day it starts. A raise is a new row from its start date, so the rate on any past day is always known. Each row can also carry an hourly cost rate and a burden multiplier, which is what an hour of that person costs the company. Pay sits in its own records with its own permission, so a line manager who reads the employee directory never sees it, not in the directory, the history, an export or the audit trail. Figures stay hidden behind a Show button until the viewer asks for them.
