Comments

In Qualis ERP, Comments puts a discussion panel at the bottom of every record's detail page for small and mid-sized manufacturers, from parts and suppliers to orders, tasks and non-conformance reports. Questions, decisions and sign-offs stay attached to the record they concern, so the next person who opens it sees the whole context without digging through email. The panel has a Comments tab and a History tab, and other modules can add their own tab, such as Tasks. You write in a small rich text editor with bold, italic, underline, bullet and numbered lists, and links. Typing @ opens a menu of things to mention, such as a user, a part, a supplier, a client, a document, an NCR or a task. Mentions become clickable chips, and mentioning a person sends them a notification. You can edit your own comments at any time: an (edited) label appears next to the time and opens the full edit history, version by version. Deleting asks for confirmation first. Editing someone else's comment is never allowed, and removing other people's comments requires the delete permission. Long threads load older comments on demand. Everyone uses it. A buyer asks quality about a certificate on the supplier record, an engineer explains a revision on a product, a manager writes down a decision on a task. The History tab answers who changed what on this record, and when. Mention notifications are delivered by Notifications. The History tab shows the per-record trail kept by Audit Logs, with old and new values for each changed field. Authors and mentioned people come from User Management, and the comment editor is the same rich text editor used in Document Management.
