Absence

Absence keeps every leave balance as a ledger: each accrual, each day taken, each carry-over and each expiry is a dated line that is never edited. A balance is the sum of those lines, so the balance on any past day can be read back, and a correction is a cancelling line on the original date rather than a silent change. Each day of leave is priced from the person's own working week and the public holidays of their work calendar: a Friday they never work costs nothing, a half day costs half of that day. Carried-over days are used before they expire, and an expiry only removes what is left.
