Work Centers

Qualis ERP's Work Centers module lets small and mid-sized manufacturers describe each assembly line, machining cell or paint booth on the shop floor, with the rates and schedules production needs. Without them, an operation in a routing has a duration but no place to run and no cost behind it. Each work center has a capacity basis, Labor or Machine, plus labor, setup and machine rates, a fixed overhead and variable overhead lines driven by labor hours, machine hours, material cost, quantity, setup or a fixed amount. You can set default bins for material issue and output receipt, mark it as a control point with labor and material backflush, flag it as an outside process sent to a supplier, list substitute work centers and decide whether reported scrap is written off or routed to a scrap location. Work calendars define working days, shifts with crew size and efficiency, and holidays. Machines carry a run rate, a calendar and a status of Available, Maintenance or Down. Tooling tracks jigs, molds, dies and fixtures. Production engineers set up work centers once and update rates when costs change. Planners open the Work Center Load view to compare scheduled work-order and maintenance hours with calendar capacity by day, week or month, and spot an overloaded cell before the week starts. BOM & Routing places each operation at a work center, and its rates feed the standard cost rollup. Manufacturing Orders generates work orders against these work centers. Work centers sit in a site from Warehouses, use bins from Storage Locations and outside vendors from Suppliers Management, and Manufacturing Settings can name a default work center and calendar.
