Packages

Qualis ERP's Packages module lets small and mid-sized manufacturers record the real containers they pack, such as a crate of parts, a pallet of boxes or a sealed pouch of screws, with what is inside, where they sit and how far along they are toward the customer. It replaces handwritten packing lists that cannot tell you which lot went into which box. Each package gets an automatic code, a name and a required package type, plus an optional reference or barcode, storage location, shipping weight and pack date. Its usage is Disposable or Reusable. The contents list holds each product with its quantity and, when you trace them, a lot number or serial number. A package moves forward through four statuses: Open, Closed, In Transit and Delivered. Closing locks the contents. Packages can be nested inside a parent package, and a status change on the parent carries down to its sub-packages after you confirm the list of affected packages. A package cannot be shipped while a nested package is still open, and it cannot move ahead of the package that contains it. Shipping teams build packages as they pack an order, nest boxes on a pallet, then close and ship the whole structure in one step. The detail page shows the hierarchy as a list or as a flow diagram, and a 3D preview of the container when its type has dimensions. Every package uses a container from Package Types and holds items from Products Management, stored at a place from Storage Locations. A package can also be linked to Tasks, so a follow-up such as a damaged pallet or a missing label stays attached to the right container.
