Installed base

Installed base registers every serial-numbered unit you deliver as an asset at the customer's site, automatically from the delivery. Each asset records the client, the product and its serial number, where it is installed, its status from shipped to in service, under repair, retired or scrapped, and the parts and lots it was actually built from, taken from the manufacturing order that produced it rather than from today's bill of materials. Every asset gets its warranty when it ships: the policy that names its product, or the default one, sets what is covered (parts, labour or both, and at what percentage) and for how long. The end date is computed once and frozen, so changing a policy never re-warranties units already delivered. Coverage is one decision the whole system asks: it is refused after the end date, when the warranty was voided with a reason, or when the fault is one the policy excludes, such as a customer error. Installed base works with Clients Management, Products, Lots & Serial Numbers, Sales Orders, Stock Moves, Manufacturing Orders, Customer cases and Returns.
